performance upgrades

Hi i have a 2000 accord ex coupe (4 cylinder 5 speed) and my friend said he could install a short shift kit and cold air intake in my car, but i just wanted to know if it was worth it, will i notice a big difference in performance by installing these things? thanks

A minimal but noticeable gain in performance from a CAI..

And the short shifter basically shortens your throw..A good mod for comfort..

It won't turn it into a 396 Camaro but it will help a bit as cjdm mentioned.

ok thanks guys...
and how much horsepower (roughly) would the CAI add??

your right, it will still be reliable.

as for the hp, not much.

I wouldnt expect more than 15 hp, but they add a cool whooshing sound. I'd say it would be a good investment

15hp? I doubt that, 3hp maybe.

I had Intake, Exhaust, Cat delete, intake manifold, throttle body, header, new plugs and wires, hondata, and a dyno tune on my car and it made like 25-30whp over stock.

Well, they vary from car to car. Some get 5 hp, others I heard get 10 hp, and I admit, I was a little exagerated there.

And since were on the subject of CAI, I told my friend (who really doesn't know much about cars, he tries to compare himself to me) that I was going to hurt my engine with that Injen SRI that you guys suggested to me. I was like, "no, I wont." But he kept telling me that. Will a SRI hurt my engine? I seriously doubt it, but I have been wrong about things before, so ill ask people smarter than me

I see no possible way of it hurting your car. I personally have one on both my cars, all my friends have them, every hawwr on this site has one.

Thank you! I didnt explane what happened that well what... happened, but I was discussing the plans for my Accord, and I mentioned the SRI and he told me it would hurt my engine. He didnt believe me when I said, "What are you smoking? Why would people buy something that would hurt their car (to a certain extent)?" He's just stubborn, and tries to stump me because I know a whole lot more about cars than he does. Me and my other friend was staring at him oddly after he said that.

Thanks for the info!
