Default plastic engine cover makes engine run hotter?

OK, this might be a stupid question, but I was wondering about the EOM engine cover upgrade from Honda. I was thinking about getting it as mine did not come with the plastic cover. I think it would make the engine bay a lot nicer looking. Anyway, my real question is if that would cause the engine to run hotter. My father seems to think it would. He is no mechanic and neither am I (not that you really need to be one to answer this) so I was looking for some feedback. Do you think it would run hotter with the plastic cover or not? The last thing I want to do is sacrifice performance for a minor cosmetic upgrade…

I doubt the plastic will make it run hotter

Mechanics aren't necessarily heat-transfer experts either.

I don't think it'll matter. The vast majority of cooling comes from the radiator through the coolant circulating inside the engine. That cover isn't going to interfere with that.

yeah a materials engineer would be able to tell you every piece of information about the properties of materials lol. atleast i know one who is a human dictionary lol.

since plastic is a carbon based product it wont absorb heat as well as metals would so not a lot of heat soak, atleast i would imagine. Ive seen many high performance engines with those covers and no problems either. you could also paint it to look nice

If you have an air cooled engine under the hood, then yes... it will raise the temperature. If you have a liquid cooled engine then no.. it will not have an effect on the temperature. Just don't put any plastic cover over the radiator and you will be fine.

Who on here has a air cooled engine in their honda???Did you know that many radiators have plastic covers on them from the factory??? Well engine covers are nice for appearance, but any time you work on your car, taking an engine cover off first, is not gonna be the most fun thing in the world... Its also alot harder to keep the engine itself clean when there is a cover(lots of dirt, dust, ect gets up under there)..
