Power steering fluid change?

Is it necessary to change the power steering fluid? What color should it be and how long does it last?

Not a bad idea to change it. I've always wondered why that isn't scheduled in the maintenance section, like tranny oil & brake flush. New fluid is sorta amber-colored, but it doesn't take long to get dark. Just being dark doesn't mean it's bad.
