Mikkos...So, what did you end up doing?

Also....Everyone keeps mentioning "smoke coming out of the tailpipe" and unless I missed it, it was never mentioned that's where it's coming from.

Yeah, I was hoping for him to clarify that the smoke actually comes out the tailpipe. That's very different than smoke coming out from the general engine compartment area.

Im no profesional, but could your problem be excesive gas? Kinda like a flooded engine. Or would it not start then? But he said that it was coming from the exaust. that means to me, that is is a drip onto the outside of the exaust pipe in turn causing it to smoke. could it be just a spill from the last time you changed your oil?

JimBlake 12-22-2009 06:57 AM

Well, that's just the thing.

Oil spilled on the OUTSIDE of the exhaust pipe (either during oilchange or from leaking rear seal) would make smoke RIGHT THERE. The smoke would not be inside the pipe, so it would not come out the tailpipe.

Well it's defintely smoke coming out the exhaust. I watched my sister pull off in my car and smoke blows directly out of the tailpipe. After I got the car looked at, they told me it were the oil seals that were leaking..

If that's how they said it, maybe they meant the valve-stem oil seals. (Not the rear-main?)

Leaking valve-stem oil seals WILL put oil into the exhaust pipe.

Intake-valve seals will leak most during deceleration. Follow your sister & have her take her foot completely off the gas pedal. Engine-braking is when the manifold vacuum is strongest, so leaky intake valve seals will smoke more under that condition.
