rebuilding my h22a4 head

i am planning to rebuild the head on my h22a4. These are currently the parts i have on order.

Skunk2 Camshafts
Skunk2 Cam Gears
Skunk2 Valve Springs
Skunk2 Valve Set (Intake & Exhaust Valve)
Skunk2 Titanium Retainers
APEXI Head Gasket
APEXI VAFC II VTEC Controller

What do you guys think? Am I getting everything i need? Should i change any of the parts?

Use an OEM headgasket and ditch the VAFC. Send it out to get a basic/minor port and polish and have them install your parts for you unless you're doing it yourself.

I'd go with a thermal insulating type head gasket and E-manage instead of the V-AFC. Do you plan to do the bottom end too? Nitrous or FI? If so, I'd at least add a block guard if it's the open deck type. Port/polish ..... the head and the IM. Also, a larger TB with the IM matched to it.

as of right now i am just planning to rebuild the head. The block is gonna come later on. The reason i said the VFAC is because i planned to stay N/A instead of going turbo. Thanks for the advice. Always willing to take suggestions.

I have the V-AFC ..... it's good for tweaking the tuning, but if you want to really make more power, the E-Manage allows you to adjust injector maps and I think it lets you advance the spark timing. These are major functions that a V-AFC can't do.

In order for him to add a block guard, which unless he was boosted is useless, he'd have to have it machined into the block and then have the block decked. Totally unnecessary unless he's totally rebuilding the bottom end.

thanks for the info falkore ill research it further. how much did u pay for your V-AFC? and how much is an e-manage?

BCK: this wouldn't work? http://www.honda-performance.com/info-lv2.asp?id=237

I'm thinking ahead! He said that rebuilding the block will come later ...... if that means forged pistons and rods, then the block guard will allow him to push a 150 wet shot of nitrous ...... that's F&F style! Also, for $75 how can you go wrong?

He could push the nitrous with out a block guard. Sleeving is a better option than those block guards.
