replaced contact points inside the starter, and car still wont start
 

Hey, I have a 96 Accord EX 5 speed. A few months ago, my starter started goin on, and i had to flip the key a bunch of times just to get it to start. One day, it went out on me completely. So just a few days ago, I ordered the parts I needed (the contact points), i took the starter apart, replaced the contact points, put it back into the car...and the car still wont start. It wont even try to crank over, like theres no power getting to the starter, it doesn't even click. I hear the main relay click and the fuel pump turn on.

While I was flipping the key on and off before my car's last attempted..the CEL lit on, and i jumped the connector and its givin me 8 short flashes. According to resources, that means my TDC sensor is bad or I have a bad circuit, idk how that'd happen cuz my car has been sittin formonths.

Does the bad TDC sensor or circuit have to do anything with my car not even close to starting? I am a huge Honda fan and I luv hondas to death, but this car is a big pain in my ass..im actally thinking about selling it once I get it going.

If the car isn't even turning over then the CEL has nothing to do with your issue. From what you are describing it sounds like the starter celenoid went out, not the points.

Is the battery charged?
Are the contacts good/clean?
Did you re-connect the starter leads properly?
Try banging on the side of the starter (the little round or square thing that's connected to the main body) with the end of a socket wrench a few times then try to start it, if it starts then I'm sure your starter celenoid is bad
