Rev Limiter Reset
 

I noticed on honda's website that the 2 accord I4 engines have the same compression, bore and stroke,and displacement. The only difference is 300 extra RPM's. The result is 20 extra horsepower. So if I were to re-locate he limiter at 7100 or 7200 on my v6 instead of 6800, would I gain performance?

Im no mec but i would say probably not.

Do you know how dyno sheet works? You would see that close to your redline, the horsepower made at the high rpms then starts dropping before the redline. That means if you unlock the cutoff or push it, you will just get more useless revs (shift points getting away from peak HP, more revs for less HP).

The 300rpm you're talking about could be that they unlocked it because of VTEC or something different when it comes to valve timing.

Im not too sure of what im saying but i think that's what it is.

I agree with davy, just because two engines have the same bore, stroke, compression etc doesn't mean all the top end parts are the same (ie camshaft, timing, different style vtec).

All you would accomplish is pushing the engine 300 rpms further out of its power band, meaning less hp and slower acceleration.
