Rotor and Distributor

I hear about replacing spark plug and wires, but what about the rotor and distributor cap?

Are those not big worries? like does it not matter if u replace them or not.

And wat brands, if any, do you guys recommend? And do they have to match to the plug. Or the rotor and the cap be the same.

Get an OEM cap and rotor.

could i order those thru Advanced or Auto Zone, or do i have to go thru Honda.
But it shud be ok to only replace Spark and wires?

i but my rotor and cap from autozone at the end of last year and had a shop put those on for $21 or so. but, i think next time i will go with the oem (honda) parts. good luck to you. cap and rotor can last significantly longer now than in the old days. i prefer changing my plugs more often compared to my cap and rotor, but they are definitely important!

You had a shop do your cap and rotor? Dude all you needed was a philips head screwdriver and 15min max to do it yourself.

Changing your plugs more often? YOu shouldn't even have to worry about those but once every 100k miles, and even then all you need to do is check to see if you get voltage leaks.

Im goin on 130k miles, and im sure they have never been changed, so why not just change it and be sure.

Plus, hopefully, i will get better gas effiecency(sp).

plugs are something that can affect gas mileage and driveability in my opinion. and, oh yeah my car says to replace the plugs every 30k shadow. yeah, i am lazy BlkCurrantKord so i didn't feel like doing it.

When you change the plugs/wires take off the distributor cap & inspect it. If it looks fine, don't replace it.
I took the cap off of my 95 V6 and it looked brand new on the inside. Not even a speck of dust! So I put it back on.
If you are not sure if it is reuseable, replace it.

I did not replace mine. But may replace them next time i replace spark plugs, which might be in a year or so.

if regular plugs i would advice replacement every 30k
if platinum . iridium plugs i would advice between 60-90 k depending on driving habits,,
if mostly city driving replace at 60k..
cap and rotor it would be a good idea to spend the money and replace at 60k .. for peace of mind
both might cost around 35-45 dollars but considering you do it every 4-5 years it is a good deal,,
Heck you would spend that and more for a tow bill ..
on all of these i would use nothing but Honda parts ,, last longer ,, i have seen a bunch of non-honda caps and rotors take a dump a lot sooner that expected ,,

OEM wires w/ DENSO sparkies. I pity you poor folks with wires. *Actually, not really....wires can make an engine bay look real, real clean. Damn ignition coils are hidden from view.*

RE: Rotor and Distributor

yeah, i am pretty sure i shouldn't have replaced my rotor and cap cause the dealer did that it last summer. so, 6 months later i used durulast cap and rotor from autozone and got it done from a shop. but, haven't yet noticed any problems. i have driven about 16k on this rotor and cap. but, you are definitely right go with honda parts always. peace of mind and honda's are sensitive to non-honda parts (at least from what i have been reading on the board).
