Shift Kit?

Hey I was wondering where I can get a shift kit for a 97 Accord 4 cylinder automatic transmission, or are there any alternatives to getting my car off the line faster? Thanks.

There are no shift kits.

Maybe a torque converter upgrade?

shift kits are useless in a transmission that is electronically controlled. That is why you don't see them for newer models.

RE: Shift Kit?

honda transmissions (unlike that GM unit you referenced) are not soft sloppy shifters. They are quite speedy and firm in their shifting.

taken from the site

"times begins with TransGo's 4L60E shift kit. The automatic gearbox as delivered from GM is sensitive to the input of your right foot, but it also has a lot of slop built into it to provide comfortable and quiet daily operation."

That thing is designed to shift like your grandma would........

so I should have said "On a properly designed electroniclly controlled transmission, a shift kit is useless" :P

and a honda tranny isent designed to be gentel? Accords are family cars just like most 4L and 4T(transaxle) 60-Es are... they are designed for a gentel ride... they have things called accumulators to cussion the apply of bands and clutches... they are meant to shift nice and smooth... and not put the woman driving the family sedan's head back in the head rest...

So, I can conclude from you guys that a shift kit is pretty much useless in my 97 Accord with an automatic transmission since the transmission is electronically controlled optimally.

RE: Shift Kit?

not useless just not needed... if there was one it could improve ur shift firmness and make the tranny a little stronger... (not physicaly stronger but the clutches would hold harder and bands apply with quicker and more hydrolic force) most hondas turn into manuals for any sort of performance... so no one ever made one for our trannys... later in my life... if it becomes needed i might design one for a K series drag setup but im probably gunna just build the manual... u should consider it also :)
