SOHC or DOHC?

I have a F22B2 engine on my Accord, which is SOHC. Is there any point in building it up or would I be better off with DOHC?

wel...

dohc in honda anyway, is the most agressive form of vtec they make. This is know as Ultra High power. SOHC on the other hand, is known as "high" power. While it is still unbelievably powerful for its displaement, it is not as ridiculous as dohc. for example the new accord's 3.5L v6 is sohc because any more power on a fwd car would be very understeerish in the corners. If this same engine was dohc, it would probably probably produce, near as makes no difference, 300 horsepower, which in a fwd car is difficult to control on a corner. as well, past a certain point extra horsepower does nothing besides make the car unstable on turns. Look at the mercedes brabus.

That makes sense. What would you consider the certain point for a 2.2L 4 cylinder engine?

well, because the 4 cylinder engine is lighter, there is better weight distribution. So, you might be able to work with 280 or 290 without significant problems. The onlt issue is whether you cAN GET A 97 4 banger to push 290 w/out exploding. They are great engines to turbo, but you are effectively doubling the power if not more. So my opinion is to be careful with wat u invest in.
