Default Spark plugs tune up

I went for a tune up and the mechanic said before the tune up he had to change or fix (i dont rememeber(the Seal in the spark plugs cause they were leaking oil into the engine? something like that.

anyway Im not much of a mechanic. How much is this kind of work, is it a do it yourself kindda thing, and can I go without fixing it or will it damage other parts?

well, there are some experts on here that can help you here. but, from what i know it sounds like a valve cover gasket. the seals have probably deteroriated and thus oil has gone into the spark plug tubes. i have heard that honda mechanics do an awesome job of fixing this problem. i would suggest to contact deserthonda or 00accord. they really know this stuff well. hope this helps somewhat.

as far as tuneup is concerned, ngk plugs. i would only go to honda for that stuff.

What the mechanic was talking about are the rubber seals underneath your valve cover that surround the spark plugs. They're a pain to remove (usually have to just torch them out) but completely easy to replace. Expect to pay for those seals, a new valve cover seal, and whatever labor is.

they are called sparkplug tube seals (you can buy them seperatly), but i'd get the valve cover as well. it's not that hard to do, if you have somebasic mechanical knowledge. if you don't get it fixed, then you run the risk of damaging the sparkplug wires, and possibly the sparkplugs themselves (causing misfires), etc.so it's best to get the leak taken care of. g/l, sos

ps, i hope i looked these up right, just got the infofrom your profile...

desert must be feeling generous today.I was going to suggest a "search" but he linked it! No offense. It already appeared to me that BlkCurrantKord had the issue answered. (BlkCurrantKord is wiser than me anyway.)
