Speed Chips???

I know a lot of people say that the speed chips are a bunch of b.s. (the one's the sell on ebay). I was wondering if anyone has tried them on their cars, and if yes, do they really make a difference in gas consumption and power improvement?

RE: Speed Chips???

Basically those "speed chips" are suppose to be either a resistor which you jump across your map sensor.... i think its suppose to be the map sensor. Or the other which is a resistive pot which you basically do the same thing. Its suppose to trick the sensor into thinking it needs to make the gas mix richer or leaner..... its the most generic piggy back you can have..... if you dont have the right resistance you can also really throw things off...... mind you.... its just a 1 dollar resistor is most cases......

Don't mess with the ECU cals. Sensors send signals to the ECU by the amount voltage being seen. These alter these to make the ECU think something is happening that is not, which may make you quicker, but also broke and/or slow all together.
