Throttle Body Cleaning

Ok, so I am thinking of cleaning the throttle body on my 99 Accord EX. So, I should just remove the air intake hose and rub it with a toothbrush? I believe there might be a post on this in FAQ, but I thought I would rather post this cause I need a fast response. Was thinking about doing this today.

Rub it with a toothbrush? Where'd you hear that? To clean the throttle body you have to spray carb cleaner through the intake while the car is running... I can't give you the exact details because i just payed to do it but there are several posts with exact steps. Use the search feature!

Well some kind of brush. LOL! I have the throttle body cleaner, on the directions though it says to have the engine off.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

My throttle was sticking a bit. Cleaned it with the spray cleaner and it operates smoothly now. Just removed the plastic tube and sprayed it inside and on the outside (pivots) while the engine was running. May have to goose the throttle some while spraying or the engine might quit.

I always take off my air intake, spray well with carb cleaner, and then scrub the inside with a soft wire brush while the car is off. While I am scrubbing the inside with the brush, I pull the throttle cable back so I can get deep inside the throttle body. Then Iwipethe inside thatI can reach with a towel.

Use TB cleaner and paper towel.
Do not use Carb cleaner.
The TB may have a plastic coating for precise air volume control.
Carb cleaner may damage.
