Torque Converter

What are symptoms of a torque converter starting to go?

My 1997 Accord Lx with 209000km feels a little rough. The transmission doesn't change gears smoothly at all and often under relative to hard acceleration if I take my foot off the gas it will continue to rev high before catching the next gear. It takes its time going from Park to Reverse as well as going into drive... it doesn't seem to be catching...

I don't know if I should just not worry and let it die because I haven't had a check engine light or anthing like that or if I should get it checked out now!

Also, could that cause a low idle and or my infamous shaking at idle problem?

Thanks again!

RE: Torque Converter

Well if you shaking at idle that could me many things. Spark wires or motor mount needs to be fixed. If you idling very low there a screw on the thortle body which controls the idle speed. you have to play around with that till you get it around 800-900rpms when the car is warm. Also Iam assuming you have a automatic tranny. You might wanna start by changing the fluid and adding some lucas tranny help oil thing. The has been alot of post lately with people's auto tranny. If the problem consist you might wanna think about getting the tranny rebuild or better yet swap it for a manual. OUR saveing up to buy a new car. Its your choice. Next honda i get its gonna be stick for sure.
