Transmission problem?

I just bought an 03 Accord Ex Coupe with the V6 from a used car dealership. The automatic transmission seems a little herky jerky in the lower gears and this worries me. I dont know if this is typical of this transmission. Also, it seems that when the car is first started and i pull away in the lower gears the car vibrates. This goes away once the car has been running for a while. I've read about a recall on the auto tranny and wondering if i'm experiencing a faulty tranny. I've got a warranty on the transmission for three months and would like to replace it quickly if theres a problem, but i dont want to take it in for a tranny checkup and get charged for something when theres nothing wrong with it. Need your help/advice!

RE: Transmission problem?

There was a recall on that auto transmission/engine combination. An "oil jet" was installed to redirect the trans fluid. Take your VIN to a dealer to find out if it has been done. I believe Honda also extended tha warranty out to 100K. They are trouble prone so get it checked out PRONTO! Were it me I would drain & fill the trans fluid every 15-20K instead of the 30K recommended......it might buy you some time. Don't hesitate on looking into this.

Search the web there's a lot of information on this.

RE: Transmission problem?

I had a transmission problem too on my 1998 Honda Accord. And if you go to www.carcomplaints.com, there are MANY complaints about transmissions on the accord, especially the 6th generation. Yours could be a faulty transmission, good thing you have a warranty, mine's expired when my trany was having problems.
