Transmission reving high?

I have a AT accord and when im second gear and not driving fast only at 2800 and it shoots up to 3600 and shifts even though im barely on the pedal? Any ideas what that could be? Tranny fluid? or could it be the tranny going?

Accords are known for tranny problems. I have a '00 Coupe. One day the Check Engine light came on. Next think I know, I'm dropping in a new transmission. It was under recall, however, so no cost to me... (lucky)

^ what year & what engine? Do you mean the transmission shifts into a lower gear and then the RPM's shoot up?
