v6 swap
Hello everyone,
I have a 91 accord ex with a f22 an auto trans. Its getting into the higher miles, over 200k, andI was wondering if i could swap in some kind of v6 honda (c27 or others) What would be involved, what parts would i need. I know where i can get a 5th gen accord with c27 auto. Is it worth it? Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
RE: v6 swap
no cant be done(realistically) and no reason to be done(v6 5g is .1 faster in the 1/4mile than a 5g ex.)
if you want power just swap in a H series motor. |
RE: v6 swap
ok, what would i be looking at to do the h22 swap?
|
RE: v6 swap
not much, pretty straight forward, need to modify your stock wiring harness, replace the timing belt side motor mount, a little exhaust work.
just google h22 accord swap, there are 100 guides on doing it. |
RE: v6 swap
Cool, thanks man. Another question. What year am i looking for. Also my dad owns an exhaust/mechanic shop so we should be able to do a swap no prob. Just a little confused with what goes into doing the neccessary wiring

RE: v6 swap
any year H will do, just no H22a4 out of a type SH prelude(can be done, just makes it alot more difficult).

RE: v6 swap
could an acura legend o vigor fit up
|
RE: v6 swap
not in a 4cyl bay, the v6 accords engine bays are a few inches bigger, and engine mounts are in a different location.

RE: v6 swap
Well, it looks as if im sticking with the crappy f22. Can't find any h22's in my area (Morgantown, West Virginia)

RE: v6 swap
I used to not be a believer in the F22(probably why I have an H).
But I have seen some make good power(500 or so). just takes a turbo, and they have iron sleeves stock unlike the H. |
RE: v6 swap
Yeah, I have heard that the f blocks were stronger. Just wish i could pop the hood and see a VTEC smiling back in my face.
|
RE: v6 swap
what about an h22 head on my f22 block?
|
RE: v6 swap
can be done, as f series and h series blocks are very similar(minus F20c and f22c of course). Dont know of the exact hp gain, but it cant be all that much, cause the f22 stock just isnt mean to be a NA motor(well technically it is, but 8.8:1 compression doesnt make power.

RE: v6 swap
yeah, i have a v6, c27, and i want nothing more but to swap it out. I highly recommend putting your money in an h22 or k20 or k24 motor.. the c27 has very limited to almost zero aftermaket support and it was made in an auto only (unless your willing to travel down the path of installing a 87-89 legend trans (manual c27).. but good luck finding one in good condition and whatnot.

RE: v6 swap
