XTUNE cold air intake need advice

I bought acheap Xtune cold air intake off ebay for like $50. I was suprised when I got it cause it looked super clean, was welded well and came with the expensive clamps and everything. Just one question about the filter. Its only mesh. no rubber or paper like the AEM or K&N. Seems like it will just let dirt right into my engine. concerened. sounds great but what so you guys think.

swap K&N filter right away dont even drive another mile with that crap filter on there...unless you dont mind dirt and stuff in your motor.

I still dont like the idea...think of it this way you have a cone with holes in it. what is stoping the dirt from getting in??

ya dude all that is is a metal pipe with a metal cheese grater on the end, so if I were you, get a K&N filter and clamp it on. Don't get the dryflow filters...they have their place, but they dont flow as well as natural cotton gauze.

Serously, put a K&N or AEM on there. I have used both AEM dryflow and K&N. The only reason I swapped to K&N was because I couldn't find the dryflow cleaning kit around town and I didn't feel like ordering it online.

The AEM dryflow was louder than the K&N is. When you step on it with the AEM dryflow, from inside the car it almost sounds like you have an exhaust system haha.

Thanks dudes, Getting swapping for K&N asap. Think I need a 2.5" x 5". its an 03 accord coupe cold air. Am I right on the measurements for the replacement filter?

You've got the intake tube, right? Measure it so you pick the right K&N that fits where it clamps onto the end of the tube.

You buying it online or at an auto parts store? I bought both my AEM Dryflow and K&N at Advance Auto Parts. I brought my useless cheapo filter in there and compared the two to make sure the size was correct. I'm pretty sure I remember it being 5" on mine.

Yeah its 2.5x5", got an AEM dryflow filter picked out on ebay or should I just swap k&n?
