02 Accord - starting problems
Hello, I bought this car 4 months ago and it has been running great. Recently it started to not want to start when turning key, like there was no juice at all. I put a new battery in and thought it would fix the problem. I can go about 10 starts in a row and all of sudden it will not crank. Sometimes it will start the next try or it may take 3 - 6 more. Could it be the starter, solenoid, alternator - how do you tell?
Thanks in advance for any advice. Paul |
Do you hear one click coming from the engine bay, when it isn't starting?
|
yes one click- thank you for asking .

It definitely sounds like the starter contacts are worn out. I am not sure if those contacts are available for replacement.
|
ok so this would require the starter to be replaced?
|
Replaced or repaired.
On older accords with denso starters, the contacts could be replaced fairly easily. I repaired my starter with the same problem as yours for ~$25 on my old 95 accord. Your accord has a Mitsuba starter (same as my 05 TSX), but I am not sure if the contacts are easy to replace and/or easy to purchase. |
Is there a preferred vendor on this forum, or one that advertises to sell parts?
