03 accord engine no compression

My 03 accord has quit running. It is a 2.2 4 cyl it made a rattling noise and stopped. The starter turns and the belt goes around , the cam timing chain is intact but the cam sprockets do not turn with the starter. Any ideas?

It sounds like the timing chain broke, or something that drives the timing chain broke. You will probably have to remove the timing chain cover to find a possible problem.

If the camshaft is not moving and the pistons are moving, then the valves likely got damaged.

When you say belt do you mean accessory belt? And the cam gears don't move so neither does the timing chain?

It also sounds to me like the timing chain broke.

I am not that familiar with this but can the key be missing from the cam gear?
How do you know the timing chain is intact?

If the crankshaft is turning (belt turning), but the camshaft is not turning, I think you have a timing chain problem. If you have been turning the engine over like that, you probably have bent valves, if not more severe damage. I could be wrong, but I don't think camshafts have keys.

The mechanic says that the timing chain and all associated parts are fine. He says he needs to get more of the head removed first. the belt i refer to is the serpentine belt and its movement tells me that the starter is working and engaging the fly to turn the engine but the cam chain is not turning.

The engine lost oil pressure and the oil pressure runs the timing chain tensioner. The chain skipped and sheared off some teeth, the pistons hit the valves and the rest they say is history. The mechanic wants $3000.00 for a used one installed. I'm looking elsewhere.
