03 Accord Tune Up

With 118000 miles. The car will "hesitate" when accelerating/changing gears. I am thinking it needs a tune up. What are some things that would make the car "hesitate" when changing gears?

If tune up, is this something i can do myself?
What type of plugs and wires should i be using?

Just looked over the carfax again and it does not say anything about a tuneup. It mentions all the manufactuers checkups but nothing on tuneup. When does honda recommend a tuneup?

Is it skipping?

Not sure what skipping is but i should mention it is a 5 speed manual. It is different than when i let out on the clutch in the wrong manner. Am i making any sense?

Oh gotcha! Well mine is automatic and it was skipping gears I felt like and my oxygen sensor's need to be replaced! Took it to Advance and got it hooked up to the computer! If that is the problem just know there are two not one!

Ok, so I went to remove a spark plug and just inspect it to see what the plug looks like (dirt, oily etc). It is a 4 cylinder and I think I located the plugs (under a black plastic cover). The problem is, there is a "bar" that goes acroos the plugs secured by 2 nuts. I removed the nuts but was not able to remove that "bar". I didn't want to do any damage so I stopped and came here to see if anyone has changed plugs in a 2003 accord lx? Can you share how to do this?

I'm not very familiar with the 03 setup. I think that purchasing a Haynes manual from a parts store will help you out a lot doing the maintenance on the car.

My 03 Sedan owner's manual says nothing about any bar. Could this be a strut tower brace? Got any pictures?

You got no distributor, & no spark plug wires. I'm guessing that "bar" is the top of the coil. You have one coil for each plug. Un-do the bolts & lift it up - takes about the same amount of force as pulling a plug-wire.

I don't get it. He says he looked at one of the plugs, so he must know how to get them out. I'm confused now.

Yeah, but I can't think of another bar across there. There's a couple structural bars but they don't obstruct the sparkplugs.
