03 EX Beeps

I have just bought my new '03 EX (which I love) at a dealership yesterday. The remote key wasn't working so the mechanic cleaned it out, put a new battery in and "re-programmed" it, whatever that means haha.

About 15 seconds after I start it, there's a series of 10-15 high pitched beeps (after I put my seatbelt on, no dash lights indicating doors ajar, etc.). I would say about two minutes later, it will do the same thing, 10-15 beeps, so on and so forth. No dash lights either.

I've tried researching, but really couldn't find a straight answer. All electronics are stock (has factory alarm, and anti-theft light blinks even when I'm in the car).

Bump. I took it to Auto Zone for the CEL check today and no codes. Anti theft light stupid blinking as well, but the beeping continues.

Any ideas?

Do you have a second key you can try?

It only came with one, unfortunately. :(

Since they just programmed the key at the dealership, take the car back and have them diagnose the problem. I would hope that they would do this as a courtesy, since you just drove it off their lot.

Sorry I haven't responded, been ridiculously busy at work! I took it to the dealership, and when I explained the situation to them, they looked at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears.

I was only given one key when I bought it and they said that they programmed it correctly, but would look at it but they would have to charge me (it was a few days past the warranty), and to be perfectly honest, I really didn't trust the mechanic at that dealership.

It stopped for about a week or so, and then yesterday it was beeping like a madman. Maybe a fuse? I'm guessing my next step is taking it to the local Honda dealership?

I found the source! It was a GSM/GPRS trackerthat was hidden in the paneling underneath the steering wheel.

My guess is that it was a fleet vehicle

Dang, I would have never guessed that. Thanks for the follow up.

Sure thing! I was able to pull the tracker box, but the actual receiver is wired into the ignition. There's no way in heck I want to even touch that. I may contact the local Honda shop to see if they can remove it. :)
