03 shifting problem
 

My 2003 EX V6 sedan has developed a shifting problem. When shifting up or down, sometimes it jerks very hard. Other times when it shifts, the engine revs like the tranny's in neutral and trying to find the gear. I checked the fluid and it's OK. Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this?

Does your check engine light turn on, or does the D4 light start blinking? You might want to stop by an autozone and have them read the PCM code(s) for you.

Post any codes you find on here. They will start with the letter P and have four numbers.

Thanks for the response. The check engine light did come on tonight, and the D4 light started blinking. I'll try to have it scanned and see what the codes are.

OK, I finally got my car in to have it scanned. The codes were P0747 and P0752. I believe the description was something about a solenoid being stuck. I believe I read somewhere that the solenoid can be removed and cleaned. Is that correct? If so, where is the solenoid exactly and how would I go about cleaning it?

I am not familiar with automatics that are newer especially a V6. Maybe someone else can chime in on this problem.

On older accords there was a shift solenoid and lockup solenoid that were easily accessible. Your setup may be way different.

A shop manual will have all this information, but will be more expensive. A Haynes manual is less expensive, but will have less information compared to the factory manual.
