04 accord software update
 

So after bringing my car the mechanic to get my ECL shut off with a simple issue, he found that my computer system needs an update related to the engine idle power, I guess you can call it. Basically tells the engine what rpm's to be at in cold/hot weather while warming up, so I'm wondering if I should go spend the $100+ to have this done or to not bother because its not detrimental to my car. If anyone knows of this any help would be great. If I had to take a guess I'd say it's fairly important but what do I know.

Ask them for the software update number or the TSB number stating the need for the update.

Many times if there is some sort of "hard re-set" of the PCM or even just a simple re-set, there is an idle "re-learn" procedure that needs to be done.....sorry too lazy right now to look it up for the 7th gen Accord that you have.

In simple terms, you turn most everything off (blower, ac, headlights, ect). Start the car without pressing on the gas pedal, let the thing run for several minutes. Most of the time they say to let the cooling fans cycle on and off at least twice. Then shut the car off......pretty much that simple.

Again, for $100 bucks, I want to see some documentation......just like running windows and that, ask to see the current version number and what version number is going to be applied.....other wise walk away and save your "c note" :)
