Was it a denso sensor or another brand. If not then buy a denso and check the plug/cable while you're at it.

Isn't a code 1157 something to do with the EVAP system? Or am I thinking about a different model/code?

No it's a sensor 1 code. Usually a new sensor fixes it but there is a possibility of the harness being open/shorted.

He should of had to replace the sensor that is connected on the right rear of the engine. It's mounted just behind the oil pan on the pipe.

Unplug your battery and touch the 2 cables together for 5 mins to force a reset. Then try again.

You may need to return the sensor due to it being faulty. Make sure you have the right one installed. Denso 2349040

Did you replace the sensor that bolts into the catalytic converter, or the sensor that is upstream of the converter?

Do you have any testing tools like a scanner or volt meter, etc.?
