100,000 Tune up on 6th gen accord
 

Are the recommened NGK laser platinum spark plugs worth 10-15 bucks each?

The car has two cabin air filters. Where are they?

Fuel filter is attached to fuel pump. Should it be replaced?

Cap and rotor need to be replaced. Do the wires? Does it really matter if you don't?

This isn't my car. It's my friends.
It's a 2000 Accord with just over 100,000. It has never had a tune up.
It's an ex sedan with 4 wheel disc brakes.

Any other parts that should be replaced or cleaned other than:
The throttle body (sticking again, just needs to be cleaned), air filter, cap, rotor and spark plugs?

yeah, it's worth it for the plugs - they are recommended at 105k but last far longer.

do the cap and rotor as a preventitive.

the wires are very high quality from honda. if it's not having any misfire leave them. use a honda cap and rotor btw.

the filters are behind the glove box. you have to remove the pass lower dash cover, the glove box and a small brace.

the 'fuel filter' doesn't need replacement unless fuel pressure drops. if fuel pressure drops you'd have a driveability complaint(sluggish, low power, misfire, etc)

I second all HondaTech said above. NGKPFR5F-11 (double platinum) are the plugs I would use. You can get them on sparkplugs.com for under $12 each. I bought mine locally at Advance Auto Parts for around $9 each.

At 105kyour friendneeds to have the timing belt changed as well as the water pump, drive belts, and oil seals (the tensioners should be checked too and replaced if any faults are found.)

The reasoning for the waterpump, is it's driven by the timing belt. It will most likely NOT last another 100k miles, and it's a lot of labor to do-over if the pump starts leaking later this summer.

If you're gonna change out his waterpump for him & don't charge him anything for labor, then he can leave it alone...

Actually that happened to me on my '95 Integra. Changed T-belt & inspected the daylights out of the waterpump. It looked so good, so I took the chance. About a year later I was changing the waterpump. My own labor, so it 'only' cost me a saturday. Plus it cost me the pain of explaining to my wife why I'm taking the car ALL APART again.

It is always a must rule to change out all the parts when you do this..as Jim says, you will have to do it anyway down that short road..do it now...
