1986 transmission to 1988 accord

I was wondering if a fuel injected 86 automatic transmission would bolt right up to an 88 accord fuel injected automatic car??

Any info would be greatly appreciated especially since this is for my father who is working on my little brothers newly bought accord.
thanks

pscheer39,

The third generation Accord utilizes the H4 transmission that was first introduced in 1983. Later designs of the type H4 transmission used three shafts instead of two, thus getting a new designation, the H4A. This automatic transmission was used across the third generation car, so theoretically a '86 auto tranny would bolt into an '88 Accord.

I looked up some auto transmission part numbers on honda parts now and all of the pivotal OEM auto transmission parts seem to be interchangeable between the two model years.

Do you plan on performing this swap yourself?

Well my Dad and myself will most likely end up doing the swap ourselves and I greatly appreciate the information that you have given me!
