check engine light came on, code 17, vehicle speed sensor, where is it located and what ever else you can tell me about it would be greatly appreciated, thanks

 

Download the 86-89 shop manual from the online manuals thread in the DIY section. The hondatech link in that thread has it.

Do the troubleshooting tests before replacing that sensor.

 

88 LXi-Nice (2dr, 3dr or 4 dr - auto or stick - just my own personal interest). Anyway, yes download the manual and test the old one-want to be sure it is the sensor and not a wire issue. As far as it's location-right/pass side, rear part of the trans (under the neck of the tb??-going on memory). Look where the speedo cable goes into the trans...Need pic's, let me know-have an 88 LXi auto myself-or at least one of the kids drive one.
