Default 1989 Accord Choke Stat

Apparently Honda Canada do not make them anymore and there appears to be no aftermarket one available either. Does anyone know where I can buy one from to have shipped to me? Thank You in advance

Check car-part.com for a US or Canadian part.

If that fails, I would suggest very carefully disassembling your choke thermostat? and attempting to repair. A determined repairman can fix most things.

good luck

Or you can call around to local junkyards and see if they have an 86-89 DX or LX model. Then pull it yourself, make sure to have a cordless drill to get the old one off.

Then I have to ask, what testing/procedures have you done to know that the stat is bad.

..and if all of that doesn't work, I THINK I have one in the garage???? I'd have to dig around? I have no idea what it would cost/customs/ect to get it there (Canada)?

Thank You Texas and Poorman for your replies. I seem to only be able to find a salvage yard willing to sell an entire carb vs. just a choke stat and I tried car-part.com to no avail.
So Poorman, if you have one and are willing to ship it to me, I would be interested in purchasing it. I am pretty sure there would be no duty to pay given that the part is used. It seems I am running out of other options here is why I ask.

thanks
Lee

I found it in the garage last weekend. Let me test it this weekend, can't remember if it was one of those dumb ideas or there was something wrong with it. PN on the package is 16014-PH4-306. It was for the 89 LX Auto I have.

I have to go by the dealer tomorrow to order a part-pcv tube for the same 89-just what I get for changing the pcv. I'll ask while there if they offer a new one. I'll PM you on Sunday with what I find, my memory is bad so if I forget and you haven't heard from me by Monday, re-post or PM me to remind me.

EDIT: Majestic Honda shows it-I looked it for my 89 LX auto. So there is another idea-If mine checks out I'd let it go for almost nothing but just trying to give ideas. Same Honda PN as above

You won't be able to find the specific part on car-part.com. You'll probably have to buy the entire carbuerator. It may still be a bargain. Hopefully Poorman will come through.

good luck

I'm reading thru the testing procedures-not having much luck on testing the actual stat, I'll keep looking. Most of what I have found is testing for 12v coming into the stat (WHT/BLU wire). I'm sure you have done that on yours..correct. Anyway here it is.

I was looking for this post....too bad I was looking for it in Fridays' posts. Did some testing this weekend, I'll send a PM later to discuss what I found and see what you want to do.
