1990 Accord Check engine light
Hello,
I own a 1990 Honda Accord LX. My check engine light has been on for sometime now. A common ECU code has been the "Crank Angle Sensor". I've had the distributor replaced, had a tune-up and this has not helped. Currently I'm having a hard start associated with the light being on. When the car sits overnight, it will start-up perfectly in the morning with no check engine light. As the car warms up (10 minutes or so), the light willl come on. If I'm at a stop light when the light comes on, the engine will die. If I'm accelerating when the light comes on, it doesn't die. When its warm and the light has been on, the hard start occurs. Several shops have not been able to solve the problem, except to re-set the light. Has anyone solved similar issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
RE: 1990 Accord Check engine light
What's the trouble code number?

RE: 1990 Accord Check engine light
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I don't know the number. I thought "Crank Angle Sensor" would give a clue. Sorry. If necessary I'll find out and email you back. Sometime ago I recall the mechanic saying #8, but not exactly sure. Thanks for your time. |
RE: 1990 Accord Check engine light
you need to take it to a shop that specializes on Hondas or the DEALER.. ....they need to troubleshoot it step by step
it could be an open in the wiring,, a short to ground or even a bad ECM,, and i am assuming the distr is ok since you replaced it...........was it A new Honda distr sub asembly ??? also chk the connectors at the right shock tower, unplug them, get a small needle nose plier and gently twist the male pins slitghtly so it makes a better, tighter connection, plug them back in ,, |
RE: 1990 Accord Check engine light
Awesome. Will have done all that you suggest.
Thanks much for the advise! |
