1990 Honda Accord EX

Does anyone know how to troubleshoot the ECU in this car? I don't have a clue. Please help. Thanks.

what do you mean? Check CEL codes?

rozek 04-19-2010 10:40 AM

The tread is how to troubleshoot ECU itself not retreaving CEL codes. How does one know if it is functioning properly or not.

When I had a 95, the Helm book explained it like this...

If the ECU is OK & there's no error codes stored, then it's like this:
When you jumper the SCS connector, the check-engine light will stay ON solid & not flashing.

If the check-engine light is lit up while driving, and jumpering the SCS connector shows NO flashing codes, THEN you suspect a bad ECU.

Thank you for your help. Please what is SCS connector if you don't mind?

The SCS connector is that blue-plastic plug which you jumper with a paperclip to read the CEL error codes. Jumper that, key on, & the CEL will flash the error codes.

This isn't really a PROCEDURE, so I'm gonna move the thread over to General Tech.
