1991 honda accord bypass inlet hose

1991 Honda Accord EX-R
2.2-litre four-cylinder I had a leaking Bypass Inlet Hose (or Heater Bypass Hose) and bought one online. When I put it on I found the hose kinked. I wasn't comfortable about the kink so I assumed I was sent the wrong hose and returned it. But the same thing happens with the second hose. So I returned it and ordered a hose directly from Honda. When the hose came I again have exactly the same problem. Those should be a 5/8" hose and 14" long.. all of the hoses were exactly that size. The original hose had no kinks. My question, is the kink going to cause a problem? Or, what I was thinking, since all the hoses I ordered, kink, can I just buy a length of 5/8" heater hose and use it. I think a piece about 16 - 17" would be enough not to kink. I included a picture of the hose to show where the kink is. |
Perhaps the one you took out wasn't actually the "original," but rather the PO's cheap repair job that was less than quality? Just an idea.

It can only be the wrong hose if factory built it using the wrong hose. I am the original owner and none of the hoses needed to be changed until now.

Can you cut it to relieve the kink? One end or the other?

I do have another hose that will go on, but it's 18" long (4" longer then the hose is suppose to be) that didn't kink when I tried it. But I don't know if I can use it or not, because it's longer. I can find nothing that says I can or can't use it. |
Any coolant hose you can make work WILL work, it's not a flux capacitor you're trying to fix. :)

I don't see what the difference would be, but everything I read and found online, says it should not be more then 14"... I am going to put a longer length on and as long as there is no kinks, I think it'll be okay.. |
