Default Transmission

I own a 2002 Accord Special Edition and I was wondering what the worst case scenario would be for my car. I need to get the transmission replaced in it. The main problems with it right now are the gears are shifting hard and hesitating when changing. What would happen if I were to continue driving the accord before getting it fixed. As of right now I don't have any warning lights or anything.

you should try draining and refilling your trans fluid 3 times with Honda Z1 fluid.

Worst case, at some point (? two days, two months, two years) it is just going to give up on you. Stick in a gear, no gear, only have one or two gears. Anytime there is a rebuild done, the lines should be flushed to get all the mteal and that out of the lines, cooler ect........

If this (tran gets stuck in a gear) happened when I'm in the middle of the highway, would it prevent me from decelerating or stopping???

Hang on, you have an '05 WAY less of an issue of your trans having issues...almost zero with proper care and use of the proper fluid......

The OP has a 98~02, almost a 70% chance they will have an issue (IMO) at some point.

Either way. No if the trans fails, it would be stuck in "second" lets say, it would take off in second and only go as fast as second (or the engine) would allow......no run away toyota's

EDIT: If nothing else, throw it in neutral and try to stop, as a last resort turn the key off (don't lock the steering) and stop...just know you won't have "power" brakes or PS but they will still work......ever driven a 66 Chevelle with no power steering or power brakes.....BTW it is 4 wheel DRUM brakes.....your Honda will stop/steer just fine compared to it.

Why do you think so? My car is only one generation newer than his.
But thanks for the answer, I just wanted to know what would happen in such case, even if it will NEVER happen to me
