1992 fuel lines
Is there an aftermarket supplier for the fuel lines running from the tank to the engine? The mechanic said that they have a special flare that can't be reproduced. Thanks for any help.

No aftermarket suppliers that I know of.

RE: 1992 fuel lines
mmmm I have never had to replace fuel lines but as Dude says dealer might be the only place ,, but what i am surprised at , is what they said that it is a special flare that cannot be reproduced ,, that i might find hard to believe ,, if someone has access to a flare kit you think they might do any of them,, i doubt that Honda has a patten on the flare ,,
but like i said i never ran across it , so could not tell you for sure 1 way or the other .. |
RE: 1992 fuel lines
My mechanic told me that the flare was special so I called a local supplier and they said that they don't stock any fuel lines for Hondas but that they have a special flaring tool that is made for this application andwholesales at $199.00. Now I would call that "special" or extra special. [sm=helpout.gif] Oh yes, it needs replaced due to the salt conditions here in Ohio.

The actual fuel feed pipe is about $60, the fuel return pipe around $50.
The other pipe is a vent pipefor tank vaporsaround$50. You can replace them for less than the cost of the 'special' tool, and then send the bill to the people that are putting salt all over the roads ;) |

ORIGINAL: wheelzman Man would that open a can of worms!!!! I'm in Ohio too, & I had to replace those lines (brake lines too) on my '95 Integra. |
RE: 1992 fuel lines
this may be a dumb question but would it be possible to convert the connections to a rubber hose type?
|
RE: 1992 fuel lines
I suppose but they would have to be braided or something as it is on the pressure side of the fuel pump. It would not be so bad but they installed a plastic shield to protect the junction where they meet and all it does is collect the salt and road muck to make it rust faster.
