Can I bypass the abs system by putting bleeder screws where the abs line comes into the caliper?

No, there are no dedicated "abs" brake lines. Its the same lines that provide brake pad actuation. ABS modulation of brake pressure occurs at the modulator unit under the hood.

Why would you want to disable ABS function?

Thank you for the reply.


I first replaced the master cylinder because of brake fade and Abs light on intermittentily


I then overhauled the hydraulic pump. After reading a thread on here. It was cycling fine. Bleed brakes with vacumn pump. Bleed at modulator. No air.


Still brake pedal fading. It gets hard off and on and is sort of driveable because it never goes right to the floor but I get poor braking at high speed after I have driven it for a while. I hooked up a manual switch to turn the pump on by me. Big mistake. The switch got stuck in the on position and started a fire under the hood. No major damage.


ABS light is still on. I am almost ready to junk the car with 178,000 km.


Any suggestions?

wow. Best to you. I'm at 230,000 with a '92 EX and I'm pretty trouble free.
Looking to keep it - I did timing belt water pump seals last summer.

 

Check car-part.com for parts you need (modulator?). I saw a good supply and you should be able to find a functional part for < $50. That's what I did to repair a 97 Acura 2.2 CL (similar to Accord) ABS.

First you need to extract ABS codes from ABS control unit. Short service check connector and watch flashes of ABS light. They should be all short flashes w/ 1st and 2nd digits separated by pause. Example ffff-p-f = 4-1
