Default 1993 Accord engine mounts

Need to replace a couple engine mounts (torque rod and LH engine mount) and want to know if anyone has experience with any of the secondary sources listed on Ebay?

I usually use OEM parts, but even the online Honda price on the mounts seems high to me. The secondary sources are very reasonable, but don't want to buy junk either.

Any comments?

I suspect you'll be OK w/ aftermarket on the side mounts and front mount (torque rod?).

The rear mount has special dampner w/ hydraulic fluid. I have seen notes on these saying they did not perform as expected (lots of vibration). I bought used OEM to replace my damaged rear dampner.

good luck

That's especially true for auto-transmission. With an auto, the rear mount is vacuum-operated, and sometimes the aftermarket mounts are solid.

Solid mounts transmit power a bit better, but REALLY transmit vibrations really well too.

For my '96 EX F22B1 Auto, I bought OEM for the front (50840-SV4-980) because it was only $36. OEM prices for the others are a different story --

* 50806-SV4-981 transmission side ... $82
* 50820-SV4-J01 engine side ... $190
* 50810-SV4-J82 rear (with adjustable damper for auto tranny) ... $240 !

The two side mounts are the only ones I would officially call "mounts", because they hold up the engine. The front/rear mounts I think are mostly vibration dampers.

I personally would like to swap out the side mounts since the ones on the car are original and almost 19 years old at this point. Since they aren't too hard to get to, I wouldn't mind picking up cheaper aftermarket ones and keep the OEMs around in a box in case the cheap ones don't last.

So ... does anyone have a recommendation on a specific aftermarket brand that they would consider trying out? I would prefer to get something brand name, but the only two other rubber part mfgs that I know are reputable (Loemforder & Corteco) don't make Honda mounts.

So far I have found --

DEA, Westar, Anchor, Beck/Arnley, MTC ... and then there are the eBay sellers who have a package deal of all four mounts for under $100 ...

... any takers?

Thanks. John

I suspect, but don't know for certain, that only the front and rear mounts affect vibration levels. Those are the ones that wear out.

No info good or bad on available brands. A quick check on Amazon reviews suggests DEA may be better option.

good luck
