1993 overheating & spilling coolant

Have 1993 Honda Accord EX Coupe. One night the temp gauge needle was above the "H" and some coolant was lost to the ground. I have not been able to duplicate the symptoms. I'm baffled. Does it sound like temporary electrical problem, an engine problem or anything else in your experience? Thanks.

First, I'm going to move this out from the other thread. Just because its 1993 vs. 1998 and also the other thread is 11 years old...

If the high temperature was a false electrical problem, it wouldn't have actually lost coolant.

Was the cooling system properly full? There's some circumstances where the overflow bottle can be full while the actual radiator can be low. When's the last time you opened the radiator cap to check the level?

If there's air in the cooling system that might explain it. Have you recently changed antifreeze? If there's air in your heater core, and you only now turned on the heat, maybe that's it? There's also a chance it's a head gasket leaking into the cooling system.

Make sure the radiator is full, and also use the bleed valve near the thermostat housing (in back below the throttle body) to let any air out from there.
