1994 accord coupe fuel tank removal

hi, I am trying to remove the straps for the fuel tank and I am having a problem. The rear bolts for the straps I loosened the bolts, but they just spin in place. They dont want to come out, and they dont seem like they are loosening anymore. Is there a trick to removing those bolts? Any help would be appericiated. Thanks, Jesse

It sounds like the threads are stripped either on the bolt (#8) or the bracket (#4). You may have to cut or drill out the bolt. Then replace the bolt and threaded bracket.

The alternative is that the bracket (#4) had a bolt that was spot welded on. The weld could have cracked, and now the nut is spinning with the bolt. If you can feel above the bolt, and the nut is moving with it, you may be able to get a boxed wrench, pliers, or something to hold the nut in place while you unscrew the bolt. Not sure how much space you have up there.

same problem

the driver side one broke and just kept spinning. i took the bolts off the front of the straps and while the tank was out welded the strap to the bracket. not recomended but didnt have time to wait on new parts. ordered the parts off the website that the picture is from in PAHonda's relpy. havent replaced cause you have to drop the whole rear end just to get to the bolt that removes the bracket. good luck
