1994 Accord High Idle

I have a '94 Accord LX, when you first start it in the morning it'll idle high at about 2k before dropping down, after that it'll idle fine all day.

Is this normal or do I have a vacuum leak?

The car should idle high when the engine is not warm. I'm not sure of the spec for cold idle rpm, or if there is one. The fast idle valve is mechanical, closes when the coolant is hot, and the ECU can't control it.

You may want to pull of the snorkel to the throttle body and clean the throttle bore and both sides of the plate with throttle body cleaner to remove any carbon buildup that would allow excess air enter the engine. If there is a slight excess of air entering via the throttle body, the idle air control valve can likely compensate by closing a bit.

I'll look into that, before I got the car it was mostly an around towner so there could be a bit of carbon in there.

EDIT: Just started it today, the idle will surge in a bit of an odd way before settling down, the coolants low so I'll rfill it back up once I get plates on the car, then get to the cleaning...when the rain ends..

Air in the cooling system can cause idle issues, so make sure your radiator is filled up.

I figured that could be a possibility, I went and grabbed some Honda coolant I'll be pouring in tomorrow.
