1994 honda

it will start just for a minute and the check engine light will come on and then it shuts offwhat is going on with it

In the sticky near the top of this forum section, "Common DIY and other threads", there are links to instructions to jump a blue service check connector on the passenger side to read trouble codes by counting the number of short/long flashes.

Once you get the trouble codes, post them.
