1996 Accord LX - Tachometer went bonkers, now it works
The tachometer started working erractically, i.e. it was going up and down with no relation to the speed of the engine. The next day, it worked fine.
This happened to me several years ago, with the exact same scenario. Any ideas what this could be, other than the proverbial "ghost in the machine?" Thanks, Robert |
The tachometer signal is generated by the ignition control module under the distributor cap. Check that the connections (it has 4 wires going to it) are clean and secure.
You can download a 94 shop manual from the Online Manuals thread in the DIY section. That manual is almost identical to the one for the 96 accord. |

Hi PAhonda: Thanks for your help. BTW, when I tried to retrieve the 94 shop manual, I got the dreaded "Error 404 - Not Found" message. Robert |
The error message is a problem with the forum for some reason. Go to www[dot]spoonhonda[dot]com (the [dot] = .). Click on the manuals button.
The blower motor is under/behind the glove box. In that shop manual that I mentioned, the bottom part of the blower motor is where the two pin power plug goes in (it has a yel/blk and a red/grn wire going to it) |
I found the manuals, but not sure which link I need.
