1996 Accord SRS code 12 - Driver's Side Inflator

Ok so I bought an old accord from the shadiest people known to man. Straight up craigslist ripoff con artists. One of the many ways they ripped me off (or I ripped myself off by trusting them) was by smashing the SRS bulb.

Now I have it hooked back up and it came on last night. I checked the code and it's a code 12 - Increased Resistance In Driver's Side Airbag Inflator

I tried resetting the light with the MES to see if it was an intermittent failure and no luck... it stays on after doing the procedure twice.

Is there any way for me to fix this myself? Any idea what to do besides paying a bunch of money to get it fixed by someone else?

Any idea how serious this is? I don't want to be driving down the road and have it go off at random but I'm not too worried about it not working. Heck I'm old school and we used to not have airbags in the first place anyway. :D

"Increased resistance": I'm guessing the airbag is gone.

Roader I was going to say the same thing.

Also OP - what makes you so sure that the people you bought it from were "the shadiest people known to man"

Is it not possible that they bought the car that way?
