1998 Accord Dying Issue

I have a 1998 Accord LX and recently have been having an issue with the car dying on me. It has happened both while driving and while stopped (issue restarting after turning the car off). I think it is either a brake switch or an ignition switch but am not sure which one.

I have noticed that when the issue happens the green light on D4 on the dash will go out and the car will stall out as if it was just turned off. When I go to restart the car the red light around park will come on but the green light around D4 will not be on while attempting to start or while the key is in the II position. After a while the green light will come on around D4 and then the car will start.

I have noticed if I either wiggle the key while it is in the ignition, or wiggle wires under the dash by the brake switch the green D4 light will come on and then the car will start.

Thanks in advance for any help.

There is a recall on the ignition switch on this car. Has it been done?
We have the same 98 car.

Classic symptoms of igntion switch assy failure. Easy DIY. See youtube videos on this subject. Several good ones.

good luck

Is this the part covered under the warranty? I called Honda and they said that this repair was already done to my car, however they said if the part that was replaced failed again there would be no charge to replace it. Sounds hokey to me, but I think ill bring it by the dealer and try my luck.

Since it's already done on your car, they won't cover a 2nd time for free. Replace it yourself?
