1999 Accord ECU
Hi,
I need to replace the ECU on my 1999 Honda Accord EX 4Cyl. The local Honda dealer suggested 37820-PAA-L50 as the part number. I'm looking for a used ECU coz the new one costs like a million bucks [sm=icon_flaming.gif]. I've found couple of ECUs on eBay with 37820-PAA-L61 and L60 part numbers. And the sellers claim it will definitely fit my car. Can you please confirm if I can use 37820-PAA-L60 or L61 on my car. Thanks in advance Indy49 |
RE: 1999 Accord ECU
Your best bet is to go to the junk/salvage yard or use car-part.com and have them find a used one for you. That's what I did, only cost me $85. But, those part numbers should be interchangeable, the part you really care about is the PAA part, Honda ECUs have a PXX numbering system.

RE: 1999 Accord ECU
99 accords dont have immobillizers? 97+ludes do

RE: 1999 Accord ECU
They do, but I don't think the chip data is stored in the ECU... I know the transponder/reader thing is around the ignition cylinder... good point to bring up with the Honda dealer.

RE: 1999 Accord ECU
interesting, so your saying you took a ECU from the junkyard and put it in your accord? cause with ludes that cant be done without taking the ignition system with it.

RE: 1999 Accord ECU
Nope, not on this Accord. I did on my 95 though. I'm not at all sure, so I'd ask the dealer before I spent any money.

RE: 1999 Accord ECU
My (former) 98 Accord EX DID have an immobilizer. I dont have the Helm book (wiring drawings) any more, but Im pretty sure its in the ECU (PCM actually).
If you get a key from the donor car, I think theres a way to make it work by adding your keys. But I dont know the details of how to do that... |

Hey guys ive noticed a lot of people who are replacing computers ECU/PCM or who have lost keys have a real problem with the immobilzer. It can cost up to $300 to get Honda just to reprogram keys/computer/transponder! Plus towing. A lot of people would rather just eliminate or disable the immobilizer system. There is no reason to pay that kind of price if you just want your car to start. The process of eliminating the immobilizer is not hard (just need your ECM computer). Send me a personal message if you are interested in the service. Why pay honda all that money.
mods! please block this guy!!!! |
