2.3 vtec skipping at idle
hey guys, i have a 99 accord with 2.3 vtec. no mods have been performed as of yet. it has a skip at idle when warm. when motor is cold idles very smooth. and as it warms up it starts to skip like a plug is fouling. does not cough threw intake or backfire. as it warms more skip gets more noticible. when upping rpms a tad like 1100 and up skip is not noticible. runs great on road. skip is just notible at idle. when it does this ex smells of raw gas. i pulled plugs and all are clean. compression hot is 175-180 on all cylinders. installed new set of ngk iridiams. still skips. and clues what to go after or try? wires, cap, rotor look ok. help! thanks inadvance!!

is it possible youre injectors might be going bad? it seems mine was doing something similar and my injectors need replaced, whats ur mileage?
|
milagemy
my milage is 239.652. I have sea foamed it and ran injector claner threw it. no change.

You asked about cap, rotor and wires- I'll ask when were they last changed.
Also have you chacked for vac leaks-check around the vac hoses and gaskets (intake and such). EGR ports? |
im back.
ok still skippng when warms up. new plugs, wires, cap,and rotor, 2 tanks of injector cleaner and a sea foam treatment. checked injectors and they are all ticking the same. plugs look reall nice and light tan. all look the same. scanned it and got random misfire code and miss fire on 1 and 3. compression is between 175-180 on all cylinders. does the same thing. cold motor runs very smooth. warmed up starts slight skipping. dont know where to go from here. help!

It is weird that you are getting random misfires on 1 and 3. You could switch injectors 1/2 and 3/4 to see if the misfire moves to cylinder 2 and 4?
I would spray some TB cleaner around the intake to see if the idle stabilizes. Have a fire extinguisher ready if you try this. Have you ever cleaned the EGR port on your car? |
yes i have cleaned egr ports. even blocked off egr.
|
I just want to be clear here. Did you take off the throttle body and upper part of the intake to clean that passage out? There may be a passage in the upper intake part of the manifold too.
