2000 2.3 with ABS light on CEL 53-1

My ABS light came on today. Checked code and it's the 53-1 ABS module. I looked at the fuse and there were dark marks (arching) on the pins, but the fuse was still good. Replaced it with another 7.5 amp fuse. Light still on, pulled both electrical connectors sprayed electric cleaner on the pins and receivers, CEL remained on. I checked google and the most common cause of that CEL is the electric motor on the pump. Has anyone had any experience with this problem? Appreciate your expertise, thanks. If you guys agree with google, I'm thinking of pulling the motor and cleaning the armature and installing new brushes.

Be careful you aren't finding something about earlier versions of the ABS. Not sure if you can do anything like dismantle & clean the ABS motor in 6th-gen cars.

Thanks Jim! You are probably correct. I may just let the ABS remain on, I don't really need it anyway.

After pondering this situation for the past two days, I found the perfect solution. A short piece of black electrical tape placed strategically over the light. Works like a charm!
