2000 Honda Accord 3.0 V6 Radiator Leak or Hoses?
 

Hello, I have a 2000 Honda Accord V-6 with 89,000 miles on it. I have a coolant leak problem. It is on the splash pan. I have alredy changed out the radiator and new bottom hose as well as the Radiator Cap. I see it is still leaking. Not sure if I need to bleed the system or how. I did burp it a few times. Hard to believe I may have a defective radiator...But it may be. Really hate to rip it all apart again if there is something I did wrong after installing the new rad. The car has 84,000 miles on it and it is clean and runs great. No coolant in the oil ect. Any ideas before I rip it apart again. Like maybe a loose hose..Not sure it is tho. I put new clamps and hoses. Thanks in Adance.

A cold cooling system leak test should find the source. Leak test pressurize to about 15 psi and inspect carefully.

Some auto parts stores have a radiator pressure tester you can rent. You can put ~16 psi on the radiator when it is cold. Then you should be able to find the leak.

It is not pouring out antifreeze. But it seems to be coming from the middle of the rad area. On the Splash Shield.

No water leaking near the water pump. Or the heads. The car is in great shape and runs great.. No water in the oil ect. Only dripping on the splash pan. Think I may have a bad New Radiator. Thanks again.

Oh..Just a tip. If you hear a humming or think it is your tires...Check your rear wheel bearings. Easy Fix. 2000 Honda Accord V6 2 Dr. Know problem. Just changed out my Left rear wheel bearing and all the noise is gone.

How about the radiator hoses? Crusty crud left over in the hoses, can make them leak right where they are clamped to their nozzles. Again, check by pressurizing the cooling system when it's cold.

Not long ago I had to change a rear wheel bearing on daughter's 2007 Civic. It's even easier now on newer Hondas.

Hello I also notice my upper Radiator hose gets much hotter than the lower one. 2000 Honda Accord V6. The leak seem to be coming the the bottom of the new radiator. Seam area. Any Idea's what it can be?? Thanks

Well, it COULD be the seam between the radiator core & the tank. Pressurizing it cold helps because it doesn't evaporate as soon as it leaks out.

Driving around & then looking for evidence is difficult because the leaking fluid will blow around everywhere.

Well. It looks like it was my thermostat. Even tho the temp was not going up too high...I guess it was not opening soon enough. Lesson learned. Before buying a new radiator. Try the simple things first. Thanks again for all your help. Hondaride531
