2000 Honda Accord

so this 2000 Accord 4 cylinder ran, with lots of smoke out the pipe, but ran, so I took out the coils one at a time to test spark since it was a bit rough. When I took the last coil the car died. Hasn't run after that. no matter what I did. I put more fuel, recharged the battery, gave it booster and it cranks at least. Checked all fuses and no check engine is on. My guess is the starter, but when I crank the engine I can see all the lights on the dash dimming until it dies(while getting booster from another car) which makes me think it could be the alternator. Than I opened the distributor and found oil, not much, but oil still.... any advice before replacing the alternator and starter.

Absolutely, find out why it died in the first place. If it was running and died, then the starter or alternator probably didn't cause it.

Oil in the distributor is very common and is not likely the cause of your problem. I answered this on another thread. Get your alternator and battery tested for free. If they check out good, then while you're there at the auto parts store, buy an ignition tester and see if you're getting spark at the spark plugs. If you're not and the spark plugs look good then it just might be the distributor. I got a new distributor from 1Aauto for $114 including shipping.
