Looks like I am out of the range on the auto belt tension (see pic). Does the belt need changing (see pic)? It's a 2003 Accord 4 cyl with 212K miles. Thanks

 

Is the belt squealing on start up?
If it is the original belt it should probably be replaced.

 

It is the original belt. No squealing. Just looking at maintenance records and checking on things that could be overdue. Things seem to last longer for me. Most miles are on the NYS Thruway. Brakes went way over expected life because I drive 125 at a clip with no stopping. I don't think I put my first set of brake pad on til 100K miles!!

 

The visual condition of the belt looks OK, but the tensioner position says the belt has stretched beyond spec. I'd replace it - at 212k miles, I think you got your money's worth out of that belt.

ps... Take a real good look at the tensioner pulley bearing, and any other stuff up there.

 

Also look at the underside of that belt to see if it has cracks across it..if so , it's past due..

 

Just got quotes back from two Honda dealers. It's going to be $125 for part, labor and tax. Looks like I got my moneys worth!! Thanks.

Jeff, you can probably save half of that if you change the belt yourself. After studying the path of the belt going around each pulley (so you can remember), release the spring-loaded tensioner, & remove the belt.

Drummer, that depends on the cause of the noise. Loose belt? Old belt (hardened & slippery with age)? Squeaking A/C compressor clutch?
