2003 Accord Coupe - V6 Auto - Gears not shifting
Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum, but have been reading alot on my issue.
Yesterday my 2003 Accord Coupe V6 was having issue getting out of 1st gear. It would rev up and not switch gears.
Pulled over, put it in park and tried again, same issue.
Finally parked it , turned off engine, turn engine back on and it drove fine ever since. This really is worrying me.
Honda dealership wanted to charge 98$ to diagnose the problem. I feel that is a little high.
Local mechanic who is a family friend put his computer on it for 20$. He said there was an issue with transmission sensor getting "stuck". He also thought the Transmission Fluid needs to be changed. He doesn't do that so he recommended we go to a transmission place. This guy said he thinks the issue is bigger then just new fluid. And that we would be wasting our time with new fluid.
My issue is, it hasn't happened since, but am worried it may happen again. Should we pay the 98$ to honda? Or just change the transmission fluid (which i think is low anyways) and just see what happens?
On other people's posts I see they talk about a shift cable? Could this also be a problem?
No lights turn on on Dash, no Check Engine nor does the Drive "D" like flash or anything.
I know this problem is normally more of a mystery then anything, but if anyone knows what my next steps should be I would appreciate it.
Thanks for any insight into this!
Ian
